About Me:

Hi, I’m Andrea Boyd, an Associate Licensed Professional Counselor (A-LPC/MHSP). I help adults move through the moments in life that feel heavy, confusing, or overwhelming — whether that’s a major life transition, anxiety that won’t quiet down, or the exhaustion of trying to hold everything together while feeling burnt out inside.

Who I Help

I specialize in helping individuals move from running on empty to creating authentic, lasting change. Whether you are navigating a major life transition like divorce, a career shift, or an empty nest, or healing from individual and generational trauma, I provide a supportive space to rebuild. Together, we work on establishing healthy boundaries and navigating complex challenges with clarity and confidence.

What Brings People to Therapy

Many people I work with are used to leading, managing, and keeping it together for everyone else while quietly struggling underneath. They feel “stuck” emotionally or mentally – caught in patterns they can’t quite name, weighed down by self-doubt, or unsure how to move forward despite wanting things to change.

How I Work: Treatment Approaches

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT): helps identify and shift unhelpful thought patterns that drive anxiety, stress, and self-criticism.
  • Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT): a form of CBT that targets irrational beliefs and replaces them with more realistic, workable ones.
  • Psychodynamic Therapy: looks at how past experiences shape present-day patterns and relationships.
  • Rogerian Person-Centered Therapy: treats you as the expert on your own life, in a space built on genuine warmth and acceptance.
  • Trauma-Informed Care: recognizes how past difficult experiences affect the nervous system and avoids re-traumatizing clients in the process.
  • Motivational Interviewing: a collaborative approach that helps you find your own reasons and readiness for change.
  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT): a form of cognitive behavioral therapy designed specifically to help people manage intense emotions, build healthy relationships, and develop practical coping mechanisms for distress.
  • Mindfulness: builds present-moment awareness to reduce reactivity and increase self-regulation.
  • Systemic Therapy: examines how family and relationship dynamics contribute to what you’re experiencing.
  • Reality Therapy: focuses on present choices and practical problem-solving.
  • Narrative Therapy: helps you separate yourself from the problem and rewrite unhelpful stories about who you are.
  • Brainspotting: a brain-body approach that helps process stuck trauma and stress the nervous system is still holding onto.

What It’s Like to Work With Me

I believe getting “unstuck” happens when you feel truly heard – not just as a client, but as a whole person. Being able to talk about challenges in an open, non-judgmental, compassionate, and safe environment and having an empathetic ear can help you begin your healing process. In our work together, you bring your lived experience, your questions, your pain, your hopes, and I provide a grounded space, curiosity, respectful challenging, and the tools to help you make sense of it all.

Background & Experience

Education: Masters of Art in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, Southern New Hampshire University; Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, University of California, Riverside.

Professional experience: With over two decades of business ownership experience and over nine years of training business professionals in networking and message generation, I bring a uniquely grounded perspective to clinical therapy. This background deeply informs how I help individuals navigate burnout, life transitions, and the complex demands of the day-to-day. By combining practical insights with a passion for emotional healing, I offer a warm, supportive space where you can feel genuinely seen, heard, and empowered to create lasting change.

Outside the Therapy Room

Outside of my counseling practice, I love spending quality time traveling with my husband and two teenage sons. You can also find me cheering on the 49ers and the Predators, unwinding on daily walks, or lost in a good mystery novel.

Why I Do This Work

I view every opportunity to walk alongside clients through their most vulnerable moments as a privilege – one that empowers them to reclaim their strength and true selves. Seeing clients gain clarity, heal, and transform their lives gives my work deep meaning every single day.

What I Believe About Therapy

  • You don’t have to keep running on empty to prove you’re capable.
  • Healing can be both compassionate and practical – you deserve support and tools.
  • We walk the path together, at your pace, with your voice leading the way to rewrite your story, reclaim your sense of self, and move toward deeper self-understanding and lasting change.
